Summers are for exploring, having fun, and maybe getting a bit messy! Join us this summer for week-long clay classes, mornings or afternoons, for ages 6-9, 10-12, and Teens. Whether working with slabs or coil pots, or working on the pottery wheel, students will learn the basics of ceramics in a small class setting with lots of individual attention. Don't miss out on the artistic experience of working with clay at Community Kiln!
Send your child or teen with a snack and drink. If your teen is staying for the full day, please send them with a lunch.
Clay can be messy - your child should wear "play" clothes, or bring a smock/apron to wear.
Teens will learn the process of wheelthrowing including centering, opening, pulling, and forming shapes such as bowls, vases, and mugs. Advanced students coming into this class can work with the instructor to create projects to fit their skill level and challenge themselves. Works are decorated with underglaze and fired. Tuition includes clay, underglazes and firing. Classes meet every day, Monday-Friday, for 1 week. Register for morning or afternoon.
17-18 year olds are allowed to take an adult level class with permission from the teacher - call for more info.
